How the Utah State University Coding Bootcamp Works

The Utah State University Coding Bootcamp is designed for students to pursue high-quality tech education while continuing to balance work or other commitments. Our program provides you with the flexibility to fit career development into your life.

  • Part-time and full-time bootcamp programs are available.

  • Bootcamp classes combine live online instruction taught by industry-experienced professionals with independent learning assignments.

  • Tuesday and Thursday Classes (With an Optional Lab on Wednesdays)

    • 7:30am-10:30am MT

    • 4:30pm-7:30pm MT

    Monday and Wednesday Classes (With an Optional Lab on Tuesdays)

    • 6:30pm-9:30pm MT

    Labs correspond with the start time of your regular classes. Participation in the weekly lab is optional, but strongly encouraged.

  • All classes are held Monday-Friday.

    • 8:30am-1:00pm MT

Tuition and Payment Options

  • The coding curriculum is broken up into five units:

    1. Front-End Foundations: Explore the fundamentals of front-end web development, including CSS, HTML, and Command Line Interface.

    2. Front-End Development: Deep dive into JavaScript, the Document Object Model, test-driven development, and more.

    3. Development Libraries: Discover the purpose of React in JavaScript development, React routing, and executing custom code with Hooks.

    4. Back-End Development: Learn back-end development, Structured Query Language (SQL), and API routes.

    5. Full-Stack Development: Complete a Capstone project and expand your portfolio.

  • No, you do not need to be a current student or alumni in order to apply to the Tech Bootcamps.

  • If you’re interested in USU Tech Bootcamps and not sure which program is right for you, we recommend scheduling a call with one of our Student Advisors. They can provide you with more information about the curriculum and the roles you’ll be prepared for in each bootcamp, such as Data Analyst (Data Analytics), Platform Engineer (DevOps), Software Developer (Coding), Cybersecurity Analyst (Cyber), and Product Manager (Product Management).

    From there, apply to your program of choice (no prep required!). Next, our Admissions team can help you advance in the process and even help you switch programs if you change your mind (e.g., Data to DevOps).

  • You do need to provide your own computer for the bootcamp. It can be a laptop or desktop as long as it meets minimum tech specifications. We highly recommend Apple computers for our program, however, it is possible to use Windows with some modifications. You must have at least MacOS 10.15 or newer or Windows 10. Because the bootcamp is live-online, you are required to have a webcam and microphone in order to participate in class.

  • We have a long-standing history of delivering high-quality tech education in a live online format. You'll learn in a fast-paced environment with hands-on 1:1 instruction, working closely with both your instructor and peers.

  • To be eligible for the program, you must be at least 18 years old and a high school grad/GED holder by the start date of your intended cohort.
